The temperature may drop, but that does not mean your miles have to drop too. With the appropriate gear you will be able to crush your running goals all winter long.
Layers matter! But more does not mean better. When it comes to layering, we need to think about the “layering system”. What we don’t want is to be excessively layered up in thick, heavy materials to the point where you look like this.
Instead, we want to clothe ourselves in technical running clothing focusing with sweat-wicking materials to allow moisture to escape, whereas non-sweat-wicking materials such as cotton, traps moisture aka our sweat and leaves you and your clothes feeling cold, clammy, and uncomfortable.
Helpful Tip: When determining what to wear for you winter runs, keep in mind this rule of thumb: Dress as if it’s 10 degrees warmer to account for your body warming up as it gets moving.
