The statewide fitness initiative, Walk Kansas, which is organized by K-State Research & Extension, will hold its 2nd Annual Walk Kansas 5K for the Fight plus 1.5-Mile Fun Walk and 50-yard Kids’ Fun Run on the beautiful Kansas State University Manhattan campus. All proceeds will support the university’s Johnson Cancer Research Center. This is open to everyone, not just Walk Kansas program participants.
Pounding the pavement is great and all, but there’s something to be said for single track. And at Randolph State Park, just a little ways north of Manhattan, Kansas, you’ll find some of the best (and most technical) single track trails in the MHK area. The fall colors and panoramic views of Tuttle Creek Lake and the Flint Hills make for a perfectly lovely romp through the woods. But with roller coaster hills, dizzying switchbacks, and sometimes rocky footing, it’s no walk in the park… and Randolph will try its best to take its revenge.
All entrants receive a soft-style long sleeve t-shirt, and all finishers get a Randolph’s Revenge tall boy pint glass… and yep, we’ll have plenty of cold drinks at the finish line to fill ’em up. We’ll also have a post-race brunch for runners: biscuits ‘n gravy, Varsity Donuts, and fresh fruit.
