Our son, who is 8, has epilepsy and for the last 4 years we have held an epilepsy walk to raise epilepsy awareness in Manhattan, KS. This year, we are adding a 5K and hope you will join us! The run/walk takes place in the River Pond area of Tuttle Creek State Park. The is is a great and safe place to bring all family members to participate in either the 5k and/or 1 mile walk. The statewide fitness initiative, Walk Kansas, which is organized by K-State Research & Extension, will hold its 2nd Annual Walk Kansas 5K for the Fight plus 1.5-Mile Fun Walk and 50-yard Kids’ Fun Run on the beautiful Kansas State University Manhattan campus. All proceeds will support the university’s Johnson Cancer Research Center. This is open to everyone, not just Walk Kansas program participants.

All proceeds go toward a scholarship fund, supporting outgoing senior girls in Marshall County. Add to your wonderful Mother’s Day weekend with something special for moms and families. Come! And run the Run For Your Momma Half Marathon/Half Marathon Relay/5kon a fun and challenging course of pavement and country roads (gravel/dirt). The course features a variety of both hills and flat lands! The run will take you into the Norman Rockwell setting of the City of Marion. You will wind around the popular family destination of Marion County Lake with its commemorative CCC workers statue, and beautiful examples of the classic hand laid stonework of the 1930s. Experience pastoral scenes of prairie, growing crops, and cattle grazing all while being treated to the melody of native Kansas’s birds. Watch for them perched on fences as you breeze by!
