Phi Theta Kappa Alumni of Washburn University (PTKAW) is holding a 5K on Washburn’s campus. We have a suggested donation of $15 per person (we cannot charge fees on campus). Half of donations will benefit PTKAW; 25% will benefit Community Health Ministry and 25% will benefit the Phi Theta Kappa Kansas/Nebraska Region. PTKAW is a Washburn student organization for students who were in the Phi Theta Kappa honor society in two-year colleges who have transferred to WU; PTK is the largest honor society for two-year colleges in the United States and globally. Our goals are to promote WU to current PTK members and promote PTK to current two-year college students. We also aim to participate in volunteer projects with organizations with whom we have worked while at the 2-year college, which is why we are glad to partner with CHM to help promote their work. We are also donating funds to the PTK Kansas/Nebraska Region to help support their programs such as scholarships and member conventions. Still awaiting WU police to finally approve our route proposal, which will start at the intersection of 21st and Washburn, complete 1 lap around the campus, and end just past 17th and MacVicar (1.5 laps around campus). Registration begins at 9:30. Please RSVP for this event by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, March 29; please e-mail us with additional questions!
